New Jersey Jury Indicts Truck Driver In Tracy Morgan Crash

By Car Accident Help on February 2, 2016

Just before Christmas last year, a New Jersey grand jury indicted the driver of the Wal-Mart truck that slammed into the limo carrying comedians Tracy Morgan and James McNair. McNair was killed and Morgan was severely injured in the accident. The driver is being charged with first-degree aggravated manslaughter, second-degree vehicular homicide, and third-degree aggravated assault.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) ruled that driver fatigue was the cause of the 2014 accident. The Wal-Mart corporation recently settled related lawsuits from McNair’s family, Morgan, and others injured in the accident.

Corporations are responsible for the behavior of their employees when they are on the clock. The truck driver in the Morgan/McNair accident shouldn’t have been allowed to drive in a fatigued state. Trucking companies are known for making drivers work longer hours than federally mandated to make deliveries faster.

Tractor trailers like the one involved in the above crash are a large, heavy, and dangerous presence on America’s roadways. If you’ve been injured in an accident with a tractor trailer, the driver and their employer may be liable for any injuries you’ve suffered. To get the settlement you deserve, you need to contact an experienced truck accident attorney.

Attorney Ray Maples has been successfully representing Oklahoma truck accident victims for well over a decade. He’s helped many clients recover significant damages on behalf of his clients. He’s not afraid to stand up against big corporations and their insurers to get you the settlement you deserve. Call Attorney Ray Maples today for a free, comprehensive consultation.
