Is the Domino’s DXP a Dangerous Distraction for Drivers?
In theory, the Domino’s DXP should be just another car on the road. But in reality, there is certainly potential for drivers to become distracted by looking at the rather unique vehicle.
The driver of the DXP should be safer than ever; numerous compartments and locations for pizzas and other items within the car reduce internal distractions. Ultimately, though, time will tell.
What the Heck Is a DXP?
Domino’s DXP (“delivery expert”) is a unique pizza delivery vehicle that includes internal compartments for food, beverages, and other items to be delivered to customers. There is even a warming oven built into the side of the vehicle to ensure food arrives hot.
The DXP has compartments designed specifically for holding pizzas and other items commonly delivered by Domino’s. This means delivery drivers don’t have to struggle with holding an item while driving, or trying to catch a sliding pizza box while making a sharp turn. Driver focus within the DXP should be quite high and allow for safe delivery of food. While this may be a good thing, there are some potential concerns that drivers and pedestrians should consider in Oklahoma when out around the DXP.
Why You Should Be Careful
Perhaps the greatest concern regarding road safety and Domino’s DXP is its potential for distracting other drivers. It would be nice if all drivers took proper caution while operating motor vehicles and focused only on the road and traffic. Unfortunately, distractions are one of the biggest causes of vehicle crashes, so there is a very real danger of drivers looking at the unique design of the DXP and no longer focusing on the road.
But Is Domino’s Pizza Responsible?
But is this Domino’s fault? That is a difficult question to answer, since there is nothing truly bizarre or dangerous about the design of the DXP. Other drivers should be able to glance at the vehicle briefly and stay focused on the road. But the idea of an oven on a car, or a bright light on the roof, or some custom additional lights may well prove to be a dangerous distraction for some drivers.
Ultimately, just about anything going on by or on the road can be a distraction. It is up to drivers to operate their vehicles safely and ignore such things. If you have been involved in an Oklahoma distracted driving accident, call Car Accident Help at (405) 285-4357 to discuss your options.
