Nissan has revealed a new technology.
The sweat-sensing car seat (known as Soak) can, according to Nissan, assist with vehicle accident prevention. The seat has the ability to analyze a driver’s perspiration to detect high salt levels, which may be an indicator of dehydration. Research conducted by the European Hydration Institute and Loughborough University suggests that dehydrated drivers are as “error-prone” as those who have been drinking alcohol. Read the rest »
Approximately 28 Americans are fatally injured each day in accidents involving an intoxicated driver.
There were roughly 10,200 deaths in 2015 attributed to drunk driving, making up nearly 30% of all roadway fatalities. Approximately 1.1 million people were arrested for DUI in 2015. People who have not witnessed a car fire may think that they only occur in the movies.
Unfortunately, vehicle fires are not an uncommon occurrence. National Fire Protection Association data indicates that fire crews were called to roughly 174,000 car fires last year and that 445 of those resulted in a fatality. KOCO News 5 OKC reported that a woman was traveling with her child on County Road 2420 when her car veered off the road for approximately 300 feet. Highway Patrol says the woman took no corrective action as she hit five T-posts before her vehicle burst into flames, killing both her and the child. Read the rest »
